Our debt to trees is absolute
Where I live, I’m surrounded by trees so I felt compelled to take photos of them. At first, I struggled, and it took me a while to look for their character-yeah, yeah I know, but trees are and have personalities. Over the seasons and with time you get to know them. Winter is great for seeing their outlines, you get those strong lines from their shapes. The rest of the year color takes over.
But this journey with trees also taught me that no trees, no humans. Our debt to them is absolute.
They play a major role in our psychology and mythology. From the fear we have in the dark forest transported from generation to generation through fairy tales to the prominent role they play in our mythology and the religion-the tree of life is ubiquitous in many religions, the sacred groves of the druids, the sycamores where souls find peace in the Egyptian Book of the dead, to the spirits in the woods in many folklore.
Next time you go for a walk in the forest-take a deeper and studies look at the trees-you will be amazed. Guaranteed.
